Show me, LORD, my life's end...

Psalm 39 v 4 - 5

Show me, LORD, my life's end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting my life is. You have made my days a mere hand breadth; the span of my years is as nothing before you. These are the words of King David from Psalm 39.

What a perspective to have and maintain about our short lives on this earth! Years later, David's son Solomon recorded these words;

Ecclesiastes 5 v 15

Everyone comes naked from their mother's womb, and as everyone comes, so they depart. They take nothing from their toil that they can carry in their hands.

Dear reader, have you considered the end of your life's story? What about your family, friends, neighbours and colleagues; do you actively engage with them on the subject of life's end and what happens after death?

Is this subject too morbid? Does it make you feel too uncomfortable?

He has set eternity in the human heart...

Ecclesiastes 3 v 11

Freddie Mercury from the rock band Queen became so disillusioned with the brevity of life and the thought of eternity that he penned the words;
"Who wants to live forever?"

 Eternity awaits us all. The big question, the simple question, the question above all questions is this;

Where will I be in eternity?

Each one of us has the ability and the responsibility to determine the answer to this question.

World population...

It has been claimed that there are more people alive on planet earth today than have ever lived and died in all of human history.

Think about it...
It took 6000 years for world population to reach 1 billion in 1804 and 123 years later it reached 2 billion in 1927, then 3 billion in 1960, 4 billion in 1974, 5 billion in 1987, 6 billion in 1999 and then 7 billion in 2011.

Do the maths;
6000 years to reach 1 billion and only 200 years to reach 7 billion!

Frightening!

John 4 v 35
I tell you, open your eyes and look at the harvest fields! They are ripe for harvest.
