Ultimate Reality...

God is the ultimate reality - period.

Eternity will confirm this for every individual.

According to the bible there are only two ultimate destinies; Heaven and Hell. Given that we all have a choice; you would assume that the decision would be simple. We are eternal beings and we need to make it our business to find out where we will be in eternity. This consideration becomes complicated because it involves real life choices.

All of us have been given a choice; so I will not beat about the bush - if the decision is as simple as this - Where do you want to spend eternity? Heaven or Hell?

Most people avoid making a commitment to God because of the perceived cost in terms of our ‘lifestyle choices’. How daft can we be?

It is sad and ironic that many people refuse to repent and turn to God based on the misconception of how they might ‘lose out’ in this life. They neglect any sober consideration of the consequences of spending eternity in hell, shut out from God’s presence forever.

Let’s face it; this life is measured in terms of a few short years. How does this stack up in comparison to a never ending eternity? Answer – it doesn’t!

Before we go any further, we need to point out another important event - the ‘Final Judgement’. After the Tribulation and the Millennial Reign of Christ, the final judgement will take place at The Great White Throne, as described in Revelation 20 v 11-15. It is at this point that eternity becomes a reality.

Every unsaved soul from all ages of human history will be gathered at this throne. If you are not a Christian, everything that you have done in your lifetime is recorded in heaven. God will judge everyone according to what is written in the books.

This includes your thoughts and motives as well as your actual words and actions - everything! Above all, what you will be judged on is this;

What did you do with Christ?

Revelation 20 v 11-15

11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them.

12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.

13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done.

14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.

The Great White Throne

This is black and white; there are no grey areas. If your name is not written in the Book of Life, you will be judged according to what is written in the other books in heaven. Even though there are other people with the same Christian and Surname as you, God knows who you are; he has identified you as an individual.

Every bad thought, every bad word, every angry outburst, every gleeful or envious look, every time you lost your temper or spread gossip about someone, every single sin in thought, word and deed, is recorded.

Have you ever thought about sin in this way;

Sins of ‘commission’ – the bad things that we think, say and do.

Sins of ‘omission’ – the good things that we ought to do, but don't do.

Every time you had the opportunity to go to church but couldn’t be bothered, every time you had an opportunity to help someone else but didn’t, every time you had the chance to speak out against wrong doing but didn’t speak up, every time you resisted the whisper of God to give your life to him, and so the list goes on, everything is recorded.

When we stand before God at the Great White Throne – there will be NO excuses.
