An Age of Pluralism

In this age of pluralism when many people across the world imagine that there are many gods, the bible repeatedly declares that there is only one true and living God.
He is the God of creation in the book of Genesis; he is the God of deliverance from Egypt in the book of Exodus. He is the God of the Tabernacle, the Law and the Prophets. He is the God who sent his Son Jesus into the world to save sinners.
In every period of human history represented on this timeline, the message of the bible is consistent and compelling; there is only one God. The bible is unique in that it portrays this uncompromising message from Genesis through to Revelation.
God's almighty power is declared and displayed in the biblical accounts of Creation, the Flood, the Exodus, the parting of the Red Sea and in the subsequent years of the Old Testament through his dealings with Israel as a nation. This is written in history and is simply undeniable.
The following scriptures outline this theme in no uncertain terms.
Exodus 8 v 10
Moses replied, “It will be as you say, so that you may know there is no one like the Lord our God...”
Deuteronomy 4 v 35-39
You were shown these things so that you might know that the LORD is God; Besides him there is no other.
Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the LORD is God in heaven above and on earth below. There is no other.
2 Samuel 7 v 22-23
22 “How great you are, Sovereign Lord! There is no one like you, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears.
2 Kings 19 v 14 – 19
O Lord, God of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim, you alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth. Now, O Lord our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all kingdoms on earth may know that you alone, O Lord, are God.
Isaiah 37 v 20
20 Now, Lord our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you, Lord, are the only God.
Isaiah 44 v 6
“This is what the Lord says - Israel’s King and Redeemer, the Lord Almighty: I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God.
Isaiah 45 v 5-21
5 I am the Lord, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God. 14 They will bow down before you and plead with you, saying, ‘Surely God is with you, and there is no other; there is no other god.
21 Declare what is to be, present it - let them take counsel together. Who foretold this long ago, who declared it from the distant past? Was it not I, the Lord? And there is no God apart from me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none but me.
Isaiah 46 v 9
Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me.
Mark 12 v 32
“Well said, teacher,” the man replied. “You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him.
Romans 3 v 29-30
29 Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too, 30 since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith.
1 Corinthians 8 v 4-6
4 So then, about eating food sacrificed to idols: We know that “An idol is nothing at all in the world” and that “There is no God but one.”
5 For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many “gods” and many “lords”), 6 yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.
1 Timothy 2 v 5
5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all people.
Exodus 9 v 16
But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”
In the book of Exodus, God progressively reveals himself to Pharaoh and to the Egyptian nation as the only true and living God. He shows himself to be different from the Egyptian 'gods' - small 'g' - by revealing his power and glory.
Conclusion
Everyone cant be right. I have heard people saying that all roads lead to the same place. Frankly, they don't. They say that all religions lead to the same destiny. This is impossible because of the conflict in the teachings of the multiple religions of the world.
It is a matter of history that Jesus Christ lived on earth. We have outlined his fantastic 'I am' claims on the Coming of Christ page. These claims provoke a response - either we believe him and respond in repentance to his message, or, we reject his claims and suffer the consequences.
I repeat; the bible contains the only credible, complete, consistent and compelling story of ancient human history with the compliment of the prophetic message of the dispensations and the end times.
According to the bible; there is only one God. Again and again I have asked the question; do you believe the bible or not?
