2 - The Fall of Man

Introduction

To understand what the fall of man was, and still is, we need to get an idea of man's surroundings in the Garden of Eden, immediately after creation and before the dreadful events of the fall.

The early chapters of Genesis paint a beautiful picture of paradise in Eden. At this early dawn of creation there was no sickness or pain, no hardship or heartache, no sorrow or sadness, no hatred or conflict, no despair or fear, no global viruses and above all, no SIN and no DEATH.

Adam and Eve were the only human beings on earth. They didn't know what it felt like to have to apologise, they knew no regret or remorse, and they knew no fear. Their experience of life was absolutely unique in that they were made as fully grown and mature human beings.

Unlike us, they had never experienced embryonic growth in a womb, physical birth, childhood or adolescence. None of us know what that felt like. They did. Adam and Eve were also unique in that they had no parents. However, they knew the daily joy and pleasure of being in unbroken fellowship with their creator, God.   

Contrast this with life on earth today; daily news reports from the world’s media inform us of continuous trouble all around the world. We hear of wars and revolts, famine and disease, natural disasters and one humanitarian crisis after another, the ongoing Middle-Eastern refugee crisis and the 2020-2022 global pandemic perhaps being foremost in our minds.

In the mundane repetition of our own lives we are only too well acquainted with disappointment, apprehension and worry about employment, finances, health, family life and the future well being and security of our children. Before the fall, Adam and Eve had no such concerns.

What a contrast modern life is to the splendour and serenity of the early Eden! We are familiar with the saying, ‘Nothing stays the same’. Well that certainly proved to be the case.

Throughout this website we will point you to ‘The Thread’; there is a thread woven through human history which highlights two malevolent forces that are always hostile towards God. We will now see these forces being unleashed to deadly effect.

This timeline covers circa 6000 + years of human history and delves into a wide spectrum of subjects, some of which have proved to be controversial over many years. You might not agree with every detail.

It is my hope that you will be challenged to consider this subject and how it impacts your life both now and in the future.
